A little history
West End dates to 1835, when the White Hall tavern stood at the crossroads of what are now Lee Street and Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard. It became one of Atlanta’s first streetcar suburbs, and by the 1960s it was home to many families connected to the Atlanta University Center. The Wren’s Nest and Hammonds House Museum are reminders of its long cultural history.
What it’s like to live in West End
The Beltline Westside Trail runs through West End, with Lee + White’s breweries, food and shops nearby. West End MARTA station connects you to Downtown and the airport, and Spelman, Morehouse and Clark Atlanta are next door. You’ll find Black-owned restaurants and businesses, plus parks like Gordon-White Park.
