Have You Considered New Construction?

Discussing the benefits and drawbacks of doing new construction.

In such a hot seller’s market, have you thought about buying new construction? Today I’ll discuss the pros and cons you should consider when going this route.

Pros:

You have a lot more customization options. You can potentially choose the lot that you’ll build on as well as the floor plan that the builder will use. You’ll be able to choose your finishes, wall colors, and if you are so inclined, you may be able to choose your appliances and your tile backsplash. If those customization options make you excited, you might be a great candidate for new construction.

Cons:

Because of the lack of building supplies and the labor shortage, new construction is taking much longer. We’re seeing new construction take 12 months to finish after going under contract. Prices for new construction are also set in stone. For new construction, you’re already guaranteed that home, so the price isn’t negotiable.
