Lithonia is located on the eastern side of Dekalb County. Downtown Lithonia is a pedestrian-friendly area with a rich history and interesting architecture. The name Lithonia means “stone city.” Lithos is the Greek word for “stone.” It is an area that was once mined for granite and gneiss. The Lithonia area includes the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve – a 40,000 acre nature preserve with walking, biking, and hiking trails.
